This workshop is for people who want to learn axe technique. The teacher is Alex Yerks, a slöjdare based in Minnesota, well known for his beautiful kåsas.

Axe technique in Kåsa making is crucial and in this dedicated technique workshop Alex will be sharing his techniques and perspectives. Carving something round can be tricky, and Alex will be sharing his methods for avoiding cracks by carving in a way that is gentle on the wood and different grips for the right control. He will also develop how he carves facettes with the axe and how to follow through with the knife.

During this two hour workshop everyone carves a mini kåsa blank, a great way to develop your axe skills.

Alex is a very appreciated teacher and has long experience of teaching in the US and internationally. He is also involved in running Milan Spoon Gathering, the world’s oldest spoon carving festival.

The course will be held in English.

Bring your own axe if you have one, or borrow one from us. We provide the wood.

The workshop will be held in the axe workshop at Bastugatan 43 in Stockholm, 6:00 PM–8:00 PM. More detailed information will be sent out by email about 1 week before the course.
